Legendary girl group Baby V.O.X recently reunited for a complete group performance at the “2024 KBS Gayo Daechukje Global Festival” held at Ilsan KINTEX. This marked their first full-member stage in 14 years since their appearance on “Kim Jung-eun’s Chocolate” in 2010.

The group captivated audiences with flawless renditions of their iconic hits “Get Up” and “Coincidence”, which was the result of intense rehearsals that lasted until dawn for 2~3 weeks.

Kan Mi-youn humbly told Xports News, “I wondered if it was necessary to practice this much for just one performance, but we worked hard, and I think we did our best.

She admitted, “It had been so long that we felt a lot of pressure. At first, I thought we’d need about three days, but it turned out we didn’t have much time to all meet together. Hee-jin was rehearsing for another performance and finished at 10 PM, so we met late and practiced until dawn. Eventually, our passion grew, and in the final week, we met every day.”

She added, “It was around 2 AM, and yet fans were still there. I was so grateful and sorry at the same time. Hearing fans cheer again during ‘Killer’ after such a long time made me emotional. Fans from China also came, and there were new fans as well. I saw a university student who became a fan after watching us on YouTube. It was touching to see both longtime and new fans waiting for us late into the night.”

Baby V.O.X’s lineup of Kim E-Z, Kan Mi-youn, Shim Eun-jin, Lee Hee-jin and Yoon Eun-hye drew significant attention at the festival. Yoon Eun-hye’s absence from previous Baby V.O.X activities had fueled rumors of discord, which were finally laid to rest during this reunion.

At a brief meeting with fans, Yoon Eun-hye became emotional, saying “Our relationship isn’t bad. Every time rumors about feuds or bullying arise, I feel sorry. It’s not something I can explain entirely” before tearing up.

Regarding this, Kan Mi-youn explained, “Since Yoon Eun-hye was the youngest, she would use formal language with us even back then. To outsiders, her polite demeanor might have looked like she was being disciplined. The older members can also appear intimidating (laugh). As Eun-hye pursued her acting career and moved away from singing, it became harder for all of us to meet. When Eun-hye couldn’t join due to scheduling conflicts, it sparked rumors of discord.”

She continued, “At first, we insisted it had to be all five members, but then thought it might still be fun to do something with three or four. Eun-hye also missed Eun-jin’s wedding due to overseas commitments, which led to more speculation. This time, our schedules aligned, and everything was resolved smoothly.”

Reunited as a full group, Baby V.O.X performed “Killer” with girl group “Kiss of Life”, showcasing chemistry that transcended generations.

Kan Mi-youn shared, “We coordinated the choreography with Kiss of Life in just one day. The members of Kiss of Life were incredibly busy, arriving from overseas and practicing with us late into the night. Watching them practice despite being tired reminded me of the old days. While we already knew the choreography, they had to learn it from scratch, and they were so hardworking and pretty. Haneul, born in 2006, made me think of our debut days. They were diligent, kind and pretty.”

With a performance reminiscent of their prime, fans are now curious about Baby V.O.X’s future plans.

Kan Mi-youn revealed, “If our schedules align, I’d love for us to do a concert. Preparing for a concert takes a lot, so we haven’t discussed it in detail yet. We’re also receiving offers for events as a full group. While nothing is decided, we’re open to doing more if everything falls into place. None of us view this as ‘the last time’, so you’ll likely see more of us.”
